USPS Discounted Mail Support
The Mailing Center assists GiftWorks 2008 Premium users in producing USPS discounted mailings (formally referred to as bulk mailings) to get the best postage rates available. This feature will save both time and money when sending mailings with more than 200 pieces. GiftWorks 2008 Premium supports the two primary discount methods you can use:

• USPS Standard Machinable Mail: GiftWorks will automatically sort the mailing by ZIP Code for the proper postal sortation trays, print the tray labels and help you complete the needed USPS reports.
• USPS Standard Automation Mail: GiftWorks will print bar codes on letters, envelopes and labels for addresses that are CASS-certified (addresses with the proper 9-digit ZIP Code and 2-digit delivery point code) as well as sort the mailing, print the tray labels and help you complete the needed USPS reports.

Consider this example: First-class postage is $.42. USPS Standard Machinable postage averages $.16. Your postage costs can go from $210 to $80 for one mailing of 500 pieces. Certain eligible nonprofits can qualify for even lower postal rates (refer to the USPS guidelines for eligibility). Plus, the effort required to sort mailings into proper trays and create the needed reports for the USPS goes from hours to minutes. GiftWorks 2008 Premium can pay for itself with only one or two mailings a year!

Coming in 2008: GiftWorks currently does not provide CASS-certification services, and we recommend that new users of GiftWorks 2008 Premium import their CASS-certified addresses and delivery point codes when they get started. We plan to offer CASS-certification services prior to November 2008.

Both Machinable and Automation discounts provide great savings. If you have never prepared your mailings to qualify for Standard Mail discounted rates, you may want to consider sending your mailings from GiftWorks as Standard Mail Machinable letters. You will get a great postage rate over First Class Mail rates but will not have as many USPS requirements for the mailing.
